Norton Canes Site Director Designate, Joel Ball, collects Norton Canes' Site of the Year award from Peter Cossar and Mark Fox at the Roadchef Everyday Hero Awards

Norton Canes, Roadchef’s flagship motorway service area on the M6 Toll, scooped a huge FIVE Everyday Hero Awards at the annual awards ceremony on 11th March 2025.

The site, which opened in 2004, collected the headline Site of the Year award, along with awards for the Single Sided Site of the Year, Most Improved Site of the Year and Hotel of The Year.

Roadchef colleagues were clearly the big winners from the event for the Cannock MSA with the ‘People Site of the Year’ trophy also being handed to Site Director Designate, Joel Ball.

Dawn Kent and Luke Brennan, who both work at Norton Canes, left with individual Everyday Hero Awards too; Luke collected the Positively Obsessive Hero of the Year whilst Dawn won the Caring Hero of the Year before taking away the main award; Hero of the Year.

Away from the toll road, M6 sites did incredibly well - with Killington Lake winning both McDonald’s of the Year and WHSmith of the Year whilst Sandbach won Commercial Site of the Year.

Costa / Costa Drive Thru of the Year was delivered to the ever-popular Costa Coffee Drive Thru located at Rownhams South on the M27 whilst Strensham Northbound won Catering Unit of the Year for its LEON - an award presented by Operations Director, Peter Cossar to the M5 site.

It was double-bubble for Strensham as they added Double Sided Site of the Year to their trophy cabinet too - with consistent 100% audit scores

Whilst food and drink, like all Roadchef sites, were the star-of-the-show, health, safety and wellbeing of our employees is firmly at the core of everything we do.

Michael Hedditch, Director of Legal Services, was proud to announce that Northampton was Health and Safety Site of the Year for its excellent eye for detail, cleanliness, tidiness and their record for having no employee lost-time workplace accidents throughout the whole of 2024!

Well done to everyone involved!
