Roadchef In Southampton Gains Six High-powered EV Chargers

Six high-powered CCS EV Chargers, at Rownhams Westbound

Roadchef, one of the UK's leading motorway service operators, adds six more 360KW electric vehicle (EV) chargers to the Rownhams site near Southampton on the M27 westbound between junctions 3 and 4.

Available now, the high-powered GRIDSERVE chargers, with Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors for maximum compatibility, will allow drivers to fully charge their vehicles in minutes, accept contactless payments, and provide real-time status updates to several popular EV charging maps.

Paul Comer, Director of EV implementation at Roadchef, commented: “The opening of our new electric chargers at Rownhams Services provides much-needed options for electric vehicle drivers in Southampton to rest, refuel and recharge. With the support of GRIDSERVE, we can grow Britain’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure throughout the UK and continue to make the necessary steps to achieve a cleaner future for all.”

Not only do the chargers give drivers more choice when topping up their vehicles, but they also reduce queue numbers for customers. According to the SMMT, electric vehicles are increasing their market share in the UK. Roadchef’s continued investment in charging infrastructure is a crucial step in future-proofing Britain’s roads.

Beyond the charging convenience, electric vehicle drivers at Rownhams Services can enjoy the various amenities offered by Roadchef, including complimentary Wi-Fi and access to popular shopping and dining options.
