REBTL
An update from Roadchef on Roadchef Employee Benefits Trust Limited
UPDATED: Wednesday 31st January 2024
After 20 years of complex negotiations and legal action Roadchef is pleased that the High Court has finally ratified an agreement and funds can be distributed to beneficiaries – Roadchef team members from 1998 and 2014 – in early 2024.
Please note that Roadchef operates independently of REBTL and has never been directly involved in the disputes between REBTL, HMRC and other parties. However, Roadchef has actively supported REBTL in recovering funds and helping settle its dispute with HMRC by funding part of the tax settlement.
We recognise the frustration and distress that REBTL’s beneficiaries and their families have felt over the last 20-plus years as they have sought a resolution. And although it is disappointing that it has taken so long to reach this agreement, we are pleased that funds can now be paid to beneficiaries.
Roadchef’s board of directors would like to thank the Trust and its Chairman, Mr Christopher Smith, for their unwavering commitment and dedication in finding a resolution and ensuring all beneficiaries receive funds from the Trust. The company would also like to express its gratitude to the members of Parliament who have raised awareness of the various factors that have obstructed a settlement over the years.
